BioNot much is known about Ryuu's past but chapter 15 gave some idea:
Currently he's working at a small-time bar in the Ginza district of Tokyo but he is in fact the youngest ever (and first Asian) to win the international cocktail championships in Europe. His father was a politician- possibly crooked, and he was accepted into a good university but turned down the position to become a kitchen-boy in a hotel in Paris. From there he went on to become a skilled bartender, spending eight years in Europe. Now he has returned to Tokyo, and is slowly making a name for himself in Japan.
He is a very kind man who really cares about each customer and the drinks he mixes. He's not good when it comes to women though. But he is quite smart in other respects.
